"A Kaleidoscopic Imagination' - at the Royal & Derngate, Northampton - Day 1

11.00 -  Festival Launch to include a special performance of Malcolm Arnold's Trumpet Concerto by John Wallace and the Northampton Symphony Orchestra

2.00 - The one-act opera  The Open Window

4.15 - A lecture recital on Malcolm Arnold's Piano Music given by Alice Pinto.

5.15 - The Orchestra of Stowe Opera, conducted by Robert Secret, will perform the Oboe Concerto (Christopher Redgate/oboe), Flute Concerto 1 (Celia Redgate/flute) and Horn Concerto 2 (Christopher Gough/horn).

7.30 - Violin Recital by Giovanni Guzzo

11.00 - 'On and Off  the Record' an illustrated talk by John Keyhoe

12.00 - Orchestral concert given by the Northamptonshire County Youth Orchestra

2.00 -  'The Forgotten Films' introduced by John Griff

4.00 - 'Themes and Songs from the films'. A recital of Malcolm Arnold's lovely songs with Claire Thompson and Scott Mitchell

5.00 - Piano Duet Recital with David Wordsworth and Janet Obi

7.30 - Gala Concert  featuring Clarinet Concerto No 1 with the renowned international soloist Julian Bliss. The programme also includes the world premiere of 'Fantasy on a theme by Malcolm Arnold' by Toby Young. The Gala Concert will be performed  by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor John Gibbons
